Agent #019: Jeanna
Stegman
Jeanna Stegman is one of the most distinctive, influential, and extreme poets
today.
Her graphic poems deal with everything from death and dismemberment to war
and the horrors of hell. Naturally, Jeanna has stirred up quite a bit of controversy
over the years, with rumors flying about Satanism and Nazism that have only
added to her mystique. Jeanna started composing poetry in 1982 in Big Springs,
CA. She started out writing poems about baby ducks and her grandparents, but
quickly discovered that she could get attention (and fans) by exploiting threatening,
Satanic imagery. While Jeanna's early approach was rather cartoonish, her
poetic prowess was still highly evident. Her poetry was published in Church
On Thursday in the mid-Nineties and their thematic obsessions with damnation
and torture made an immediate sensation in poetic circles. She now lives somewhere
in Oregon and has a Conspiracy tattoo.
