Filthy Thieving Bastards? Is Fat Mike in this band
or something? I guess not. But there are
members of Me First and the Gimme Gimmes--a band Fat Mike is in,
maybe he learned them something. There are also members of the stupid Swingin'
Utters and Camper Van Beethoven. Wait! Camper Van Beethoven's guitarist is
in this band? What the hell?! Fuck!
The ever-astute Elusive Leather Pirate, Michael Houghton, told me that these guys sound a lot like The Pogues--and they do. Just subtract everything that was great about The Pogues and they sound sort of like them. Why do all these people try to sing like Shane MacGowan? Somebody tell me, why oh why? I love me some Pogues (with Shane), but I do detest me some poser asses who aren't even from fucking Ireland trying to sound like them. What, are they trying to fool 15 year old kids or something. They might as well, people my age don't buy these shitty records.
What sucks is this band is pretty good...musicianship wise. So is Richard Marx, whatever. I kind of like the songs, too, I won't lie--and even some of the lyrics. Still, the blatant lack of originality that this band possesses pisses me off to no end. I expect this from members of Me First and Swingin' Utters, but why oh why oh why is the guy from CVB playing with these stooges? Somebody tell me why!
